Specialist Staff

Staff teams are generally cross-trained. That is they consist of qualified and experienced outdoor leaders (holding nationally recognised qualifications), as well as additional specialised staff such as:

      • facilitators
      • trainers
      • assessors
      • instructors
      • youth workers
      • counsellors
      • psychologists
      • therapists
      • learning and development consultants

This means that no matter what the program, we will put together the best staff team we can from our available resources. How staff teams are mixed, depend on the requirements and objectives of the program or course.

The role of the facilitator would be to:

      • Structure appropriate experiences
      • Pose problems
      • Set boundaries
      • Support learners
      • Ensure physical and emotional safety
      • Facilitate the learning process
      • Recognize and encourage spontaneous opportunities for learning
      • Be aware of bias', judgements, pre-conceptions and how they can influence the learner

Many of our senior staff are dual trained, holding nationally recognised outdoor recreation qualifications together with qualifications from the list above.

In order to complement and update existing qualifications and experience, all of our staff (full time, part time, casual and contract) have access to periodic in house training and certification.
